An intense and emotion-filled adventure. Through this road trip, we offer a true change of scenery, a real immersion in Arctic land. You will become an explorer of the Far North. We will cover 850 km through enchanting landscapes, exploring frozen lands more than 450 km north of the Arctic Circle. Far from civilization, we will traverse forests where no human has gone before. The program includes crossing frozen lakes and even the Arctic tundra. You will witness breathtaking landscapes, with a total immersion allowing you to live amidst a wildlife and flora untouched by pollution. From reindeer to moose, you will observe these animals in their natural, wild habitat, and for the luckiest among you, even wolves. Not to mention exceptional starry nights, illuminated throughout the winter by magnificent Northern Lights. During this journey, you will reconnect with nature, discover the explorer within you, and leave this paradise with unforgettable memories. You are about to experience something truly special!
What's included ?
Your daily itinerary
Day 1
The Scandlap Explorer team will be waiting for you at Ivalo Airport and will transfer you to our magnificent log cabin lodge and cozy cottages, nestled in the forest on the wild banks of the Peltojoki River.
We'll accompany you to our little corner of paradise in the heart of the Arctic nature in a private minibus.
You'll be greeted with a welcome reception, where you'll meet Kevin, your guide and the founder of Scandlap Explorer, and get to know each other over a hot meal!
Day 2: The Beginning of Your Adventure in Real Lapland
After a local breakfast, we'll provide you with your explorer equipment and conduct a safety briefing.
Our journey will start at your pace with a magnificent stage through ancient forests and tundra, with a stop at a Tunturi (hill) where you'll have breathtaking views of the enchanting Lapland landscapes—unique landscapes that constantly change with the Arctic light.
At the end of the day, after covering approximately 80 km, we'll reach the small village of Kaamanen.
Here, you're in Sámi territory, the last indigenous people of Europe, and a reindeer herding people, proud of their history and culture.
You'll spend the night in a traditional chalet with our Sámi friends, a truly immersive experience guaranteed!
Day 3
We'll leave this little piece of paradise to reach a charming village in the far north of Lapland: Sevettijarvi.
Today, we'll be alone in this white desert where the beauty of the landscapes is breathtaking!
Frosted trees, majestic landscapes as far as the eye can see, and the sensation of being "alone in the world."
For this stage, we have two possible routes depending on preferences and weather conditions.
A well-deserved break will be taken, either in a kota around a fire or in Inari, the Sámi capital, before crossing the frozen Lake Inari, the largest lake in Lapland, called "the Sea of the Sámi."
We'll pass by Sevettijarvi, a picturesque Sámi village, and continue off-road to PoroSanila, a small chalet by a lake where we'll be welcomed by our friend Minna.
In the evening, we can also enjoy a traditional sauna and savor a typical Sámi dish, "poronkaristys."
If you're lucky, the northern lights will illuminate the sky. This is an ideal spot to observe them!
This stage covers between 160 and 180 kilometers. A true adventure!
Day 4
After a hearty breakfast prepared by Minna, we'll depart from the lodge and cross Lake Inari, navigating around its 1001 islands.
Here, silence reigns, and the feeling of freedom takes over. If conditions allow, we may even pick up some speed for thrill-seekers.
In the middle of this majestic lake, we'll be alone, but a lunch break on a small wild island called Moitakurunselkä is on the agenda—a convivial moment around a fire!
Later, under the magnificent colors of the sunset, we'll cross the gold river, Ivalojoki, to reach our lodge in the small town of Ivalo.
The region has gold deposits, and even today, people search for the world's purest gold in the Lemmenjoki and Ivalojoki rivers and their surroundings.
Our daily stage covers 160 kilometers.
Day 5
After a restful night, we'll start the journey back. We'll traverse ancient forests among the Inari hills, and our tracks will be rivers, lakes, and forests.
This stage, covering 165 kilometers, allows us to explore different, hilly, and mountainous landscapes.
It will take us to Inari, the capital of Lapland, where the Sámi Parliament is located.
In the evening, we'll return to our lodge by Lake Inari and immerse ourselves in the local culture at a typical restaurant favored by locals, especially reindeer herders.
Day 6
After a good night's sleep, we'll head towards the next stage, which will take us to our lodge via a different route, approximately 85 kilometers.
We'll cross taiga, tundra, and the white desert, offering the opportunity to encounter reindeer and moose for the fortunate.
Importantly, we'll be in the midst of nature, isolated from civilization, with no light or sound pollution. This is one of the many privileges of this adventure.
Each winter, there's a high probability of observing the northern lights, illuminating the Arctic sky.
In the evening, you'll have an initiation into lighting a fire in the Arctic snow and preparing salmon in a traditional manner—a true delight!
To cap off this magnificent day, you'll enjoy a traditional sauna by the river with a view conducive to northern lights observation.
Day 7
Lapland and our base offer several fascinating and typical regional experiences. We'll offer several activities to choose from:
- A snowshoe or Arctic ski walk
- A visit to Inari to explore and purchase artisanal souvenirs
- An introduction to ice fishing
- A 3-hour dogsled ride (optional)
- Ice fishing
Day 8: The End of the Magical Adventure
The explorers you've become will return home with memories in your eyes and, we hope, a piece of Lapland in your hearts!

Des paysages grandioses et féeriques, de l’immersion en forêt, aux grands espaces des lacs gelés.Plusieurs rencontres avec des rennes en liberté dans leur espace naturel et des observations magiques d’aurores boréales dans un ciel étoilé. Belle rencontre avec Kinga et Kévin, des guides très professionnels et bienveillants. Nous nous sommes de suite trouvés en confiance et en sécurité par leur expérience et leurs compétences. Ils nous ont fait partager leur respect de ce territoire finlandais, sa nature, sa flore et sa faune et leur considération pour le peuple des Samis. Nous avons passé une semaine inoubliable à jamais gravée dans nos yeux et dans notre coeur !

20230415Un grand merci à Kevin et à son amie Kinga, nos guides exceptionnels pour une aventure extraordinaire au cœur de la Laponie. Ce raid m’a permis de me reconnecter avec la nature et à fait ressortir en moi des sensations inconnues, en osmose avec ces paysages idylliques où on se sent tout petit dans cette immensité blanche et vierge de toute civilisation. Le lac Inari restera à jamais dans ma mémoire et dans mon cœur également. Ma journée préférée….celle où nous avons traversé ce lac pour nous arrêter dans un petit lodge avec vue sur celui ci et les aurores boréales visibles depuis mon lit. Toute petite devant cette immensité je me suis sentie sereine et déconnectée de tout. Le bonheur à l’état pur, une expérience inoubliable avec des gens authentiques et passionnés. Je recommencerai l’aventure, c’est une certitude, mais cette fois, ce sera le parcours Grand Explorateur pour encore plus de sensations.

20230310Si Vous rêvez d’un voyage hors du commun, si vous aimez les grands espaces vierges, si vous aimez vous sentir tout petit devant une nature offrant des paysages, des couleurs, des silences, gigantesques, à vous laisser sans voix, a vous tirez les larmes des yeux, alors ce raid est pour vous, comme il l’a été pour nous. L’appréhension de la conduite de la moto neige a vite été oubliée, même pour des novices sexagénaires comme nous. C’est simple à conduire et sécure. Nous avons passé une semaine de rêve, dépassant toutes nos attentes. Au-delà de tout ce que la nature a pu nous offrir, nous avons vécu une belle aventure humaine, avec notre guide Kevin et son amie Kinga. Attentionnés, accueillants, professionnels, faisant partager sans retenue leur passion pour leur coin de paradis. A recommander ++++++ et à refaire !!!

20221013Une semaine avec Sacandlap explorer c’est l’assurance d’un séjour magique, en dehors des sentiers battus et des hordes de touristes en total respect avec la nature. C’est le sentiment profond de vivre quelque chose d’exceptionnel dans une ambiance chaleureuse et en totale sécurité ! Kévin sait se mettre à l’écoute de chacun pour lui offrir ce qu’il est venu chercher dans cette aventure. Il communique simplement sa passion pour ce grand nord qu’il affectionne tant. Il sait allier un grand professionnalisme avec une authenticité or du commun. Le raid « grand explorateur » est juste magique ! Un seul regret : n’être pas resté plus longtemps pour en apprendre encore plus sur ce pays, cette région, ses magnifiques paysages, ses habitants, leurs mœurs et leur culture. On reviendra c’est sûr ! Merci KEVIN pour ce que tu offres, ce que tu donnes, ce que tu transmets et ce que tu es. Ne change rien, continue …Longue vie à ta magnifique entreprise.

20220930Parti avec ma femme et mon meilleur ami, nous nous sommes retrouvés très vite au milieu d’un paysage complètement hallucinant. Paysage que l’on ne retrouve nulle part ailleurs. Nous avons été accueillis dès notre arrivée à l’aéroport où nous avons retrouvés Kevin qui nous a pris en charge et emmenés sur le chalet. Une maison au cœur de la nature à deux pas de l’aéroport qui nous permet de ne pas faire beaucoup de route pour arriver et repartir. Et puis ensuite 6 jours de magie incroyable. Je ne vais pas m’étendre sur de long discours mais il faut le vivre pour le croire et surtout le vivre pour le voir. Mon plus beau voyage de ma vie, une culture, des paysages, une ambiance, des relations, des activités tous étaient vraiment extraordinaires. Et Kevin est venu sublimer ce magnifique séjour. Merci pour tout encore et tu as de l’or entre les mains. Pérennise tout ça, mais surtout ne tombe pas dans la tourmente de toujours plus de touriste, reste comme tu es, un mec en or dans un pays fabuleux. Merci pour tous Kevin et compte sur nous.
