Scandlap Explorer is the result of a passion for Lapland and the spirit of adventure of its founder, Kevin. Originally from Savoie, a former passionate mountain hunter and alpine soldier with 11 years in the army’s light aviation and a world tour, he started Scandlap Explorer by living directly in Ivalo and building connections with the locals. Today, as a snowmobile guide trained for polar conditions, he passionately creates off-the-beaten-path expeditions and welcomes travelers with his partner, Kinga.

Our life philosophy is to live our passion and to have the joy of making it accessible to others with the same mindset. Our trips are always off the beaten path and away from mass tourism, close to nature and the local population. Each journey is unique and tailor-made to the needs of our guests and the opportunities that nature presents during each stay. Our trips are guided by a passion for the wild, the harmony between human beings and this still-preserved ecosystem, respect for Saami culture and values, respect for the environment, and the awareness of the need to preserve it.

We travel without haste, considering the expectations of each individual and natural conditions. For us, travel is a moment of pleasure, reflection, rejuvenation, self-discovery, and learning about the environment. Adventure is a source of fulfillment and exploration of fauna and flora with mindfulness and joy. It is also a time for sharing with people who share the same philosophy of travel and life.

We work hand in hand only with partners who align with our travel philosophy, respecting the local ecosystem, wildlife, flora, and animals. All are local providers, mostly Saamis, the indigenous people. We ensure that our activity has minimal impact on the environment and contributes to the growth of the local economy (fair and responsible).

We welcome you at Ivalo Airport in Finland. It is an airport that is well-served; however, flights typically open from mid-September until December. Please be patient and reassured, as they gradually open depending on the seasons and routes. The comfort of your stay while maintaining the authentic aspect of your experience is our priority. Each accommodation offers perfect conditions for you to rest after your outdoor activities, warm up, and recharge. In each location, we provide a traditional sauna for your use.

We will pick you up directly from the airport and take you to our chalet, which is only 20 minutes away. From that moment on, we take care of everything, including transportation and logistics.

With us, you can relax and enjoy your stay without any surprises of additional costs.

We want to ensure a completely disconnected stay for you, without the need to worry about additional expenses or pressure. Our prices include all transportation except for airfare, which remains at your own expense, and organization.

Our priority and responsibility are to ensure your comfort even in extreme cold conditions. You will be equipped with premium-quality cold-weather clothing. If needed, we will provide special equipment for those who are particularly sensitive to the cold. The snowmobile guide, trained for polar conditions, will be there to ensure your safety and comfort.

Anyone with a valid B driver’s license can easily drive the snowmobile without difficulty. Our snowmobiles are selected to be both comfortable, stable, and maneuverable, suitable for both men and women as drivers or passengers.

Prepare yourself for a true adventure immersed in nature. Bring your cameras and camera equipment because you will have plenty of opportunities to experience unforgettable moments from sunrise to moonrise… truly magical.

For your comfort and personal hygiene, we recommend bringing comfortable winter clothing (jacket, pants, hat, technical underwear, etc.) as your base layer. On top of that, we will provide you with a cold-weather overalls to ensure your safety and warmth. Also, bring the necessary clothing for the traditional sauna (flip-flops, swimsuit). We want to ensure a completely worry-free stay without the need to think about or worry about additional costs. Our prices include accommodation, logistics, and full board with three meals. Only airfare and personal expenses are at your own cost.

The price indicated on the website is per person and varies depending on the number of people per snowmobile.

We ensure that your stay takes place in the best possible conditions. Your guide will monitor the weather conditions and daily opportunities, proposing activities and the most suitable itinerary for you to enjoy your stay and see the beauty of the landscapes from the best perspective. In the rare event of a necessary change in the itinerary due to weather conditions, it will be communicated to you in advance. We value a team spirit and sharing among the explorers!

If your departure is canceled by Scandlap Explorer due to force majeure or other reasons beyond its control, you will have the choice between rescheduling the departure date, receiving a credit valid for 18 months on all our trips, or a refund.

If you wish to cancel, please inform us as soon as possible by phone or email at contact@scandlap-explorer.com. As specified in our Sales Conditions, the cancellation fees depend on the date of your cancellation as follows:

More than 60 days before departure: 15% of the total trip amount (min. €200/person)

59 to 45 days before departure: 25% of the total trip amount (min. €200/person)

44 to 31 days before departure: 35% of the total trip amount

30 to 21 days before departure: 50% of the total trip amount

20 to 9 days before departure: 70% of the total trip amount

Less than 9 days before departure: 100% of the total trip amount”

We require a 30% deposit upon booking and the remaining 70% of the total amount is due 14 days before departure.

Our expeditions are designed to accommodate participants of all ages and physical fitness levels. If you are in normal physical condition and do not have any specific medical conditions requiring special attention, it is suitable for you. The key factors are the mindset and the desire to explore. With the guidance of your instructor, you will quickly gain confidence in safely operating the snowmobile.

You are not required to speak a foreign language throughout your stay. You will always be accompanied by a French-speaking guide. We speak both French and English.

Our expeditions are designed to be adapted to everyone’s preferences. Our priority is to be in connection with nature and take the time to enjoy every moment. Each day allows flexibility to stop and appreciate the landscapes, observe wildlife and flora, take photos, or simply be amazed by the magic of Lapland.

We organize our trips between December and mid-April to ensure the best snow conditions and the magic of the Northern Lights. Each period in Lapland offers different advantages and varies throughout the season while preserving the magic of these landscapes, wildlife, and the colors of the Northern Lights.

From January, days become shorter and colder but offer absolutely unique colors and typical Lapland landscapes. From mid-February, days start to lengthen, and temperatures become milder, providing overall more comfort.

Sharing such magical moments with your family is a great idea. To ensure the safety and comfort of your children, we require a minimum height of 1m20 for children (regardless of age).

Depending on the number of available spots on the Scandlap-Explorer website, you can make a reservation request for multiple people by specifying it in the reservation form and indicating how many people per snowmobile.
